
Djehan Kidd is an avant-garde immersion artist, metaverse pioneer since 2007. Of paneuropean descent, based in France and Venice in Italy.
She creates the largest and longest running futuristic city in the metaverse since 2007 as part of the mission of the cultural non profit and non governmental organization called hangars liquides.
Her work is often called "cyberpunk" by the general public but she rejects this denomination. kidd's works are inspired by the everyday life of the ordinary people, powerlessly caught in the midst of systems.
Born on the French eastern Mediterranean coast, from a paneuropean diaspora family of both western and eastern christian cultures, Djehan received an international education, she went to highschool in Sao Paulo where a big part of her family migrated, and at the public school of the Legion d'Honneur in Saint-Denis for her grand-father was a companion of the French liberation. She then studied fine art and multimedia in London and Sydney.
Upon completion of her studies at the SAE institute she became a multimedia artist for hangars liquides in Paris.
In 2007, after hangars liquides received a grant from the french ministry of culture she started building the futuristic city under the name of hangars liquides, on the Second Life metaverse. The city has hosted the China Art Academy from Hangzhou city, from 2007 until 2016, with artist & dissident Shen Ligong.
In 2012, under the curation of Lorenzo Cinotti, her work was selected by curator Massimiliano Gionni as an official collateral event for the Venice art Biennale.
Throughout the years, her work has been presented notably by journalist Oprah Winfrey, on USA today, in publications such as the Austrian ST/A/R magazine for politics and architecture, her work has also been cited by the science-fiction author William Gibson and two of her artworks are part of the art collection of the French presidential palace.
Over ten thousand of unique fan made images and videos of her work can be seen online.
She has been using hitech to exhibit her art in a totally independent and not for profit way since 2007.
